BATBC will invest in installing solar panels

The board of directors of British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company (BATBC) Ltd., listed in the food and related sector of the capital market, has decided to invest capital in solar power. The company will spend 11 crore 56 lakhs for this work.

On Thursday (September 26), Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) informed this information.

Earlier, this decision regarding the investment was taken in the meeting of the company’s board of directors held on Wednesday (September 26).

According to information, the company said it will install solar panels on the roof of the factory located in Savar at a cost of 11.56 million rupees. One and a half megawatts of electricity will be available from here. The company will save Tk 5 crore 10 lakh every year by using solar power. This facility will be available for the next 20 years. On the other hand, due to this solar power system, the factory will reduce carbon emissions by 944 tons per year.

The company also said that the cost of setting up the solar power plant will be met through its own funds and bank financing based on cash flow.
