Cast: Robert Pattinson, Joe Gravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turtro; Cinematography: Craig Fraser; Direction: Matt Reeves.
Batman series movies are very different from other superhero movies. These films move with a very serious purpose and dialogue. Although the current release of Batman is similar, Mad Reeves has created the story with an emphasis on Batman’s detective skills.
Gotham City Mayor Don Mitchell Jr. (Rupert Benry – Jones) is killed by a serial killer. The man, nicknamed the Retailer (Paul Dano), leaves Batman a greeting card and some clues. Batman (Robert Pattinson) begins the investigation with the Deputy Commissioner of Police into the murder.
Only then do the shadow pages of the mayor appear. District Attorney Gill Coulson (Peter Sarskart) is abducted while investigating the matter. Put in a public place and Batman is killed beforehand.
The real story is who committed these murders, why, and whether Gotham was able to save the city from danger.
As mentioned earlier, the film manages to entertain as well as inform. While Batman films have been released to suit the tastes of DC Comics fans in general, Matt Reeves has brought the film closer to the general public.
The main reason for this is that the director has set aside philosophical discourses such as good – evil, culprit – good, and emphasized on spitting out action, like Batman, which came out in the 70’s, and getting into action.
Aside from the suspicion of being a Sherlock-style detective film as well as a murder detective, it is also interesting to note that Batman presents a darker, darker story.
The action scenes and chases that come at regular intervals take care not to sag the film.
Robert Pattison plays Bruce Wayne / Batman, played by Kristen Bale and Ben Affleck. His acting is excellent and appropriate.
Next to the screenplay in this film are two features to look out for, the background music and the cinematography. The cinematography of the Batman series is unmistakable.
The film runs for almost three hours. The length may have been slightly reduced. But for Batman fans, this is a movie that will not go unnoticed.
