Batres awards more than 30 thousand new scholarships for students

With the delivery of more than 30 thousand scholarships for girls and boys enrolled in public elementary schools in the 2024-2025 school year, the Mexico City Government will provide coverage to more than 100,000 new beneficiaries in preschool, primary and secondary school.

From the Plinthhe Head of Government, Martí Batresled the first deliveries of cards of the program “Wellbeing for Girls and Boys, My Scholarship to Get Started” to 30,185 students who completed their registration in the program.

This Wednesday the delivery of scholarships to 9,948 students from the municipalities began Azcapotzalco, Miguel Hidalgo, Gustavo A. Maderoand continued yesterday with the incorporation of 9,894 cards for students of The cities of Alvaro Obregon, Benito Juarez, Coyoacan, Cuajimalpa, Cuauhtemoc, Magdalena Contreras and Venustiano Carranza.

The capital’s leader highlighted that with this card, girls and boys will have access to the rest of the educational programs such as “Uniforms and School Supplies”, accident insurance “Go Sure@” and the participatory project for the maintenance of the schools “The School is Our-Best School”.

“As of today, they are part of the social programs that the Government of Mexico City has in schools (…) They are rights for everyone without exception, no one is excluded… for the sole fact of being enrolled in schools and being public schools, have these rights,” he said.

He specified that for each girl or boy in preschool, they will receive 1,570 pesos; if they attend primary school, the scholarship corresponds to 1,750 pesos and for each boy or girl who enrolls in secondary school, 1,830 pesos will be deposited.

For infants who attend the Multiple Care Centers (CAM), they will be given 1,750 pesos, he added.

“If someone is enrolling two children in school now, public, Well, they multiply by two what I just said… this is for each student who enrolls,” he explained.

The secretary of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (Sectei), Ofelia Angulo, welcomed the students who are joining the social support system and highlighted the importance of the Trust for Educational Welfare (Fibiden), responsible for managing the resources of these programs.

“In this school year, almost 100,000 new girls and boys are entering… 250,000 students who make up the basic education level. (…) We have proposed to make public education the best of all,” said the head of Sectei.
