Battlefield 6’s fourth seasonal update, titled “Pacific Front,” went live on July 21 at 4 a.m. PT (12 p.m. UTC), introducing naval combat to the shooter for the first time. According to Shanethegamer, the update features the debut of Tsuru Reef, a new archipelago map designed specifically for open water and ships.
Tsuru Reef: The Franchise’s Largest Map
The centerpiece of the update, Tsuru Reef, is now the largest space DICE has shipped for the game, surpassing the previous record held by Railway to Golmud. The map is set at a NATO base under the joint control of Japan’s Self-Defense Forces, which is currently under siege by the fictional Pax Armata faction. The environment includes a luxury resort, a dormant volcano, and an old war bunker, with rocky terrain and steep cliffs.

According to a hands-on preview from Military.com, the map’s scale is effective across both Escalation and Conquest modes. In Conquest, players must utilize air and sea vehicles to reach objective points and the main islands. The layout features a mix of closely clustered capture points and separated objectives, such as a hotel resort divided by a canal and a control point on a rocky island featuring a natural tunnel.
New Naval Warfare and Combat Mechanics
Update 1.4.1.0 introduces a dynamic wave system and new water combat mechanics. According to games.gg, projectiles now lose damage when traveling underwater and may stop dealing damage entirely after sufficient underwater travel. Additionally, players who are fully submerged cannot be spotted, and deep swimming removes players from the minimap.
The update adds two new naval vehicles:
- RHIB: A troop transport with a mounted machine gun.
- CB90 Patrol Boat: A two-seater vessel where the passenger operates a twin-barrelled mortar capable of direct and indirect fire.
Expanded Arsenal and Gear
Season 4 adds three new weapons and specific attachments to the game’s arsenal:

- EF88: A bullpup assault rifle designed for mid- to long-range combat.
- BROD 3: An aggressive carbine with a collapsible stock for high mobility in close-range combat.
- DRM VSSM: A full-auto Designated Marksman Rifle featuring subsonic ammunition and an integrated suppressor.
New attachments include the 1P86 LPVO optic, which switches between 1.50x and 4.50x zoom. The update also introduces the Extended Barrel (a 4-inch extension) for the DB-12, 18.5KS-K, M1014, and M87A1, which increases projectile velocity while reducing mobility and aim-down-sights speed.
Season 4 Roadmap and Future Content
The “Pacific Front” season consists of three staggered content drops running through mid-September. Following the July 21 launch, the roadmap includes:
| Date | Phase Name | Key Features |
|---|---|---|
| August 18 | Top Gun | Return of Wake Island (11th version); Carrier Strike limited-time mode; custom lobbies and spectator mode. |

Battlefield Studios also introduced Cairo Bazaar, a reimagined version of the Battlefield 3 Grand Bazaar map, continuing a pattern of pairing new environments with rebuilt classics. For players in Australia and New Zealand, the July 21 launch occurred around 10 p.m. AEST and midnight NZST on July 22, respectively.
