The situation surrounding the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Russia remains tense, with local authorities declaring an emergency regime. The arrival of Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk region has prompted the Russian National Guard to bolster security at the NPP. Additional forces have also been deployed in the Kursk and Belgorod regions to combat potential sabotage attempts.
The Russian Ministry of Emergencies declared a federal state of emergency in the Kursk region, citing the need for heightened measures to address the conflict’s consequences. The regional governor, Alexey Smirnov, implemented a regional state of emergency on August 7.
