Bayern and Milan in the “8” of the Champions League

by time news

Bayern sent their message to all their opponents in the Champions League: With 8X8 since the start of the competition and 2X2 against Paris Saint-Germain (1-0 at Parc des Princes, 2-0 in the second leg at the Allianz Arena) they qualified celebratory in the quarter-finals of the competition, certifying that they are one of the unshakable favorites to win the trophy.

The Bavarians’ 15th qualification in 19 appearances in the “16” stage of the CL, came from Tsoupo-Moting’s goal in the 61st minute (11th in the competition for the Cameroonian international striker) and that of Gnabry in the 89th minute. Nine minutes from 1-0, Tsuppo-Moting had scored again, but interference in the phase of the exposed Miller “forced” the VAR to not count his goal.

Paris wanted a goal in Munich, had their chances with Babel, Messi and Ramos before conceding a goal from Tsuppo-Moting, but once they found themselves behind on the scoreboard it was impossible to react, resulting in an early exit from the competition, as had happened last year, when he was left out of Real Madrid.

This was the French side’s 5th elimination in their 11th appearance in the last 16 of the world’s top football competition, and Gaultier’s side will now focus on winning the Ligue 1 title.

Milan held on

Milan took revenge for their elimination by Tottenham in 2011, and then in the round of 16, in London. A 0-0 draw with the “roosters” proved to be enough for the outgoing Italian champions to qualify for the “8” of the Champions League, as they had won at “Giuseppe Meazza” 1-0 in the first battle between the two teams.

In a match with an excellent second half and missed opportunities on both sides (highlighted by the Italians’ crossbar at 90+4), it was Milan who celebrated in the finale, not allowing the Londoners to find themselves in the Champions League quarter-finals for the 3rd time in their history (2011, 2019 the previous two).

On the contrary, the “rosoneri” for the first time since 2012 and 7th overall, will again find themselves in the eight best teams of the institution, aspiring to go as far as they can…
