Bayern debacle in Saarbrücken – BVB and Leverkusen continue

Dortmund-FC Bayern failed spectacularly in the second round of the DFB Cup, while Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen made it to the round of 16.

After a goal by Marcel Gaus in the sixth minute of stoppage time, the Munich team lost 1:2 (1:1) at third division soccer team 1. FC Saarbrücken. Leverkusen, on the other hand, struggled to a late 5:2 (1:0) at SV Sandhausen, BVB confidently won 1:0 (1:0) against TSG Hoffenheim.

Bayern loses in the last minute

Leverkusen with more effort than expected

Christoph Ehlich (50′) initially equalized for the hosts, four minutes later Jonathan Tah (54′) put Bayer back in front. Just three minutes later, Yassin Ben Balla (57th) equalized again for SVS. Sandhausen then became stronger and even pushed for the lead – but Bayer still prevailed in the end. Adam Hlozek (85th) and Amine Adli (88th/90th + 2) made everything clear.

Freiburg and Mainz, on the other hand, are out. Fabian Reese (45th + 3/foul penalty) and Haris Tabakovic (50th/hand penalty/61st) caused celebrations for Hertha in Berlin and a debacle for Mainz. Freiburg had previously been eliminated by Paderborn, who prevailed thanks to goals from Florent Muslija (18th/33rd) and Filip Bilbija (56th). Maximilian Eggestein (70th) at least managed to score the next goal for weak Freiburg, whose rebellion came too late in the final phase.
