Bayern Munich fans: ‘Glazers, Sheikh Mansour and all autocrats down! Football belongs to the people

by time news

Bayern Munich fans turned on owners of Manchester City, Manchester United and all the autocrats in football during the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City (0-3) at the Etihad Stadium.

The Munich club’s supporters in the visiting stands stretched out several banners that made up the message: “Glazers, Sheikh Mansour, all autocrats down! Football belongs to the people.”

The Glazers have been the American owners of Manchester United since 2005. Most Mancunian fans have a negative attitude towards the policies of the management of the “Red Devils”. Negotiations for the sale of the club began this year. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nayan from the United Arab Emirates has owned Manchester City since 2008.

Bayern Munich suffered their biggest Champions League defeat since September 2017 when the German champions lost to Paris Saint-germain by the same score against Manchester City on Tuesday night.

In the spring phase of the Champions League, Bayern lost 3-0 to FC Barcelona in the first leg of the semi-final in May 2015.

Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel believed his team did not deserve such a heavy defeat at the Etihad:

– I do not agree with the result. We were severely punished in those phases where we were better as a team. We played well until 0-2. I don’t want to ignore the result, but I saw our team play class up to the 70th minute. I think we deserved at least one goal and conceded one or two more than we should have. Our players lacked confidence. The result is very bitter, but today I fell in love with our team. It sounds weird, but I liked it

– Tuchela was quoted by the official UEFA website.

FCB midfielder Joshua Kimmich couldn’t get over the heavy loss to Manchester City:

“It’s very painful. The first 60 minutes were very good. After conceding the second goal, we started making mistakes and missed a lot of scoring chances. It was too hard an evening

Kimmich admitted on Prime Video.

The Champions League quarter-final second leg between Bayern and Manchester City will take place on April 19 at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
