Bayern Munich were big favorites before Wednesday’s Champions League match against Lazio, but the conditions became far worse when Dayot Upamecano was sent to the dressing room.
The Frenchman dived in to block Gustav Isachsen’s attempted shot, but completely miscalculated and stamped the Dane on the calf.
The referee resolutely pointed to the penalty mark, to great protests among the Bayern players.

– Alonso’s name has certainly come up
Bayern Munich delivered a far from impressive performance in Italy. That makes the experts speculate about the future of the team’s coach Thomas Tuchel.
– Like some other clubs, Bayern have certainly spoken to Xabi Alonso about next season. They certainly have, so it’s exciting to see what happens in that saga. There are many clubs in line, says TV 2’s football expert Erik Thorstvedt in the Champions League studio.
Alonso has really impressed with his Bayer Leverkusen crew this season. The Spaniard has also been linked with the Liverpool job which will become vacant when Jürgen Klopp is done in the summer.
Morten Langli is far from impressed with what Tuchel has achieved since he took over Germany’s biggest club.
– Much of the criticism against Tuchel is that he has not left his mark on the team in any way, but he has not been able to improve the team as he did at Chelsea directly, says TV 2’s football expert Morten Langli.

Red card
TV 2’s commentator Endre Olav Osnes points out that several referees choose not to judge in this type of situation, where the player is allowed to finish before the offense occurs.
– The finish goes to the side for a goal, but today’s referee awards a penalty. He therefore believes that there was such a brutal involvement from Upamecano that it will be a red card, explains Osnes.
The Germans were thus reduced to ten men.
