Ankara: Turkey’s leading drone manufacturer Baykar has successfully tested the jet engine of the Bayraktar Kizilma drone. The Bayraktar Kizilma fighter UAV has been specially designed keeping in mind future wars, where unmanned technologies will dominate. There is a possibility that this drone can change the direction of air war in future. It is one of the few drones in the world equipped with stealth technology, which very few radars in the world can detect. Apart from this, the Bayraktar Kizilma drone can also take off from a short runway, such as an aircraft carrier. There will be a place to store weapons in the internal bay of this fighter aircraft.

Why Bayraktar Kızılma is so special

Bayraktar Kizilma is quite impressive in terms of performance. The endurance of this drone is 5 hours. It is equipped with a payload capacity of 1.5 tons and its maximum takeoff weight is 8.5 tons. This drone can fly at a cruising speed of 0.6 Mach and a maximum speed of 0.9 Mach. The Kizilma drone can fly at an operational altitude of 10,700 meters (30,000 feet). It also has a range of up to 926 km, which can fly on both land and sea. This drone is adept at fully autonomous takeoff and landing. Its low radar cross section protects it from enemy radars. Apart from this, its high maneuverability, Line of Sight (LOS) and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) capabilities, and high situational awareness with AESA radar make it different from other drones.

Know the features of Bayraktar Kızılma

The Kızılma drone features a single-engine, low-observable airframe with advanced stealth capabilities, a cruising speed of Mach 0.6 and a maximum speed close to Mach 0.9. The aircraft is designed to operate at an operational altitude of 35,000 feet with a payload capacity of 1.5 tons and a maximum takeoff weight of 6,000 kilograms. This UCAV is equipped with various advanced technologies, including satellite control, fully autonomous takeoff and landing, high maneuverability and AESA radar for high situational awareness. It also has internal weapon compartments, which enhance its stealth characteristics, and it is capable of operating from aircraft carriers with short runways, such as the Turkish Navy’s TCG Anadolu.

Bayraktar Kizilalma will take off from the aircraft carrier

Development of the KIZILELMA began in 2013, with significant progress being made in recent years. It completed its first flight in December 2022, followed by several successful flight tests in 2023. The aircraft is expected to enter mass production in 2024, with flight tests planned from TCG Anadolu in 2025.
