BBVA has participated in the Meta World Congress

by time news

BBVA explores the uses of NFT technology in two artistic initiatives that have been protected and recorded in a distributed ledger network, specially created to exchange non-tangible goods. The first is a collection assembled in Polygon that promotes the enhancement of green spaces in cities. The second, coined in Avalanche, includes artistic creations to celebrate the 90th anniversary of BBVA in Mexico. Both projects are exhibited in the immersive spaces created by Alvearium and Legendaryum for the celebration of the Meta World Congress in Madrid dedicated to the metaverse, the web3 and virtual reality and augmented reality.

BBVA has attended the technological event with a first approach to the world of NFTs or non-fungible ‘tokens’, unique digital assets that cannot be exchanged with each other in an equivalent way and that are causing a major revolution in fields such as digital art. The cryptography of the ‘tokens’ makes it possible to convert anything that can be represented digitally into NFTs, also certifying that the owner is the sole possessor of the original piece. By including the metaverse in the equation, you open up great possibilities to turn the display of digital assets into a fully immersive experience.

“At BBVA we wanted to explore this technology to better understand how it works, since it is called to transform the way we interact with digital assets. In addition, the two collections allow us to commemorate the 90th anniversary of BBVA México and value the green spaces of the cities, for which we are doubly satisfied with the result”, affirms Guillermo Delgado, head of Innovation in Engineering Spain at BBVA.
