In it third trimester of the year, the labor market Girona has seen how the membership has lost its dynamism, in large part, because of the end of the tourist season. According to the BBVA report “Situation Catalonia. Second Semester 2023”, among other reasons that could explain this decline, they place the drop in productivity per hour worked in some sectors in addition to ddeterioration of some confidence indicators.

On the other hand, Girona has been the province with better results in the third quarter in terms of consumption. Although there has been good dynamism in consumption throughout Catalonia, the data for the third quarter show that the provinces of Girona and Lleida are the ones that have shown better consumption behavior thanks to the thrust of the tourist sector in these months. A private expenditure that could increase even more. BBVA’s Research Service estimates that in Spain the disposable income of households it could rise by just over 2% in real terms by 2024and that this could explain almost all of the growth expected from the private consumption (2.0%) the following year.
