‘Regional Cricket Association will confirm the code of conduct of Bangladesh Cricket Board’ – this is how the constitution of Regional Cricket Association has written about conduct and discipline.

BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon said this more strongly at the end of the second Annual General Meeting (AGM) of this term on Sunday (March 31). It is clear in his words, the regional cricket organizations of the country will continue in BCB’s Kolkata.

BCB President said, ‘Regional Cricket Organization Center (BCB) will not be free from interference. You are misunderstanding, I am telling you exactly. it won’t. Not until we are satisfied that they can operate independently.’

Apart from Barisal only, the activities of the Regional Cricket Association of the remaining six divisions are being carried out by ad hoc committees. It could not be started yet as director of Barisal Alamgir Alo is ill. The BCB president has ordered the election of the ad hoc committee in this year’s AGM. BCBE will give the ‘final’ call even though it is a separate cricket body.

But why? The lack of ability of those who will lead the regional cricket organization? At that time BCB president said that they have to prove by performing first. A T20 tournament has been directed as a ‘test case’ for proof. 20 lakh rupees have been reserved for this.

‘The first task I gave them was to launch a tournament. As a test case, to see. They will run this tournament as many committees as they have made. 20 lakhs will be given to them. First will be given as a test case, who is performing how.

According to the BCB president, the capacity of those who will run the regional organization will be seen. Proper utilization of the allocated funds will also be closely monitored.

“We have to see (ability) first. I don’t see it. Don’t give blindly. If you just flat out say they are free to do whatever they want, no. We didn’t understand before, we didn’t see, then we will decide.’

The last AGM of BCB was held in 2022. The previous AGM (2021) announced the Regional Cricket Association. It takes about three years to announce the visible work. Elections and tournaments under the leadership of the ad hoc committee are to be seen.

The AGM starts at 2pm. Just before Iftar, the BCB president briefed the media. The accounts of the last two financial years and this year’s budget were approved in the AGM. Above all, due to the economic recession, it is also said to cut costs.
