If some French people have finished filling out their declaration between the end of May and the beginning of June, other taxpayers still have until midnight on Thursday to do so.
Be careful, missing this appointment could cost you dearly. The last taxpayers, living in a department numbered from 55 to 974/976, have until Thursday, June 8, 11:59 p.m., to declare their income. If you live in one of the areas concerned, such as Paris, Var, or Yvelines, you only have a few hours left to complete your declaration. After two first waves which ended between the end of May and the beginning of June, the third phase will complete this process, specifies the tax administration.
It should be remembered that the service had opened its doors on April 13th. Since the beginning of June, French people living in a department numbered from 1 to 19, as well as those living abroad, can no longer declare their income. For them, the online service closed on May 25. Taxpayers in departments 20 to 54 could do the same until June 1. The paper declaration, meanwhile, ended on May 22, regardless of place of residence.

Tax notice available in July or August
«Since 2019, all tax households have the obligation to declare online“, recalls the tax administration. In the event of non-compliance with the deadlines, the persons concerned expose themselves to penalties, taking the form of an increase in the tax due (from 10 to 40%) and interest on late payment (0.20% of tax due per month of delay). It is therefore best to keep these dates in mind.
Individuals will also receive their tax notice within a few weeks, regardless of their department of residence. If they benefit from a refund or if they have nothing more to pay, the opinion will be available on their personal space on the site impots.gouv.fr between July 26 and August 4. Otherwise, the document will be available between July 28 and August 4. In the case of a paper notice, households that would benefit from a refund will receive it on July 24 and August 25. It will be between August 1 and August 30 for those who have nothing more to pay, and between July 28 and August 22 for those who still have an amount to pay.
People who need help finalizing their declaration can also obtain it by secure messaging, directly on their private space on the tax website. They can also contact 08 09 40 14 01, accessible from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. In the event of an error after the deadline, “once you have received your tax notice, on impots.gouv.fr you can benefit from a “Correct my declaration online” service open from the beginning of August to mid-December“, specifies the taxman.
