Beach cleaned by gymnasts discovers the presence of pipes and a “rock ring”

by time news

Over the weekend, approximately 2,200 young athletes from 107 associations situated in Sweden’s western coast spent their time cleaning the coastlines of 22 municipalities, from Strömstad to Höganäs. The initiative to keep plastic and other waste out of the sea and engage young people comes from the sports environmental organization, Städa Sweden, which is organizing the event for the 14th time. Local sports associations who participate in the project receive a compensation to their association fund. In this instance, the Engeholm gymnastics association is planning to use its allocation for a training trip to Italy. The group collected large bags of trash, including a large pipe, a doormat, and tiny plastic objects. The gymnasts found themselves somewhat exhausted but elated after a long day of cleaning up the beach between Ängelholm and Magnarp.
