Skujinš has competed in the Olympic Games twice. In 2016, in Rio de Janeiro, he ranked 59th in the group race, but three years ago in Tokyo, he took 22nd place. In the Tokyo Games, Skujiņš also participated in the individual race, taking 30th place.

At 18:00, the match in group D will be played by Graudiņa and Samoilova, who are seeded ninth in the tournament, meeting with the Canadian duet Melissa Humana-Paredes/Brandi Wilkerson (4th).

In the previous group matches, the Latvians lost 0-2 (15:21, 14:21) to the Swiss Esme Bebner and Zoe Verger-Depre (16th) and defeated the Paraguayan pair Juliana Poleti 2-0 (21:19, 21:15). Michel Valienti (21.).
