Beach volleyball: Zdrava and Bekiroglou take 3rd place at the Piraeus Juniors Open

The beach volleyball games within the framework of the Piraeus Juniors Open and the Piraeus Masters, where Dodecanese sportsmen and women participated, were concluded in Korai Square, and the pair Christiana Zdrava and Gul Bekiroglou finished in 3rd place in the Piraeus Juniors.

“Telkinida young athletes Kristiana Zdrava/Giul Bekiroglou and Euridiki Mathioudaki/Chrysi Parisis traveled to Piraeus to compete in the Piraeus Juniors Open (K19) beach volleyball development tournament from June 20 to 30. Zdrava and Bekiroglou, who won the gold medal in the Thessaloniki Juniors K19 2 weeks ago, beat Messini and Londres for the first time in the group with 2-0 sets, and then they were beaten in the tie breaker by Karakasi and Michelaki. And the next game they went to get a goal but this time the Roditisses won and got the precious qualification to the semi-final. They then met the favorites of the tournament, the undefeated Kontakioti and Koukouditska, from whom they were defeated by 0-2 sets (18-21,17-21) which took 3rd place in the competition.
It was also a good start in the main draw groups of the Piraeus Juniors Open for both Mathioudaki and Parisi. In their first match they beat the Antonopoulou sisters 2-0 sets. In the next game, Mathioudakis’ ankle injury gave Kontakiotis and Koukouditskas uninterrupted dominance. After receiving first aid, the couple were able to compete in the quarter finals, but were unsuccessful against Rospopi and Frantzis, finishing 5th.

The Semi-Final Stage
-Kontakioti Angeliki/Koukouditska Kyriaki-Zdrava Kristiana/Bekiroglu Gyul 2-0 (21-18, 21-17) in 41′.
Exclusion from the qualifiers for Kaliozis and Kardoulia
Dimitris Kaliozis and Yiannis Kardoulias were unlucky in the draw for the men’s qualifiers at the Piraeus Masters after they “fell” against Serbians Uros Muskina and Marko Makaric.
The young Dodecanese athletes played very well against the experienced Serbians but eventually lost 1-2 sets (18-21, 21-16, 10-15 in 50 minutes)”.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that the pair Koos Dimitris Hatzinikolaou with teammate Stavros Dalla reached the “8” of the Piraeus Masters knowing the defeat with 2-1 sets (23-21, 17-21, 15-12) from of Jason. Kanello and Panagiotis Ioannidis.
