Dubai: The police arrested seven expatriates in the incident of beating in a public place in Dubai. The police identified and arrested the accused after their street fight went viral on social media. Action has also been taken against them for destroying public property.

The police informed that a case has been registered against the arrested persons and they have been handed over to the public prosecution for further action. Reports say that those arrested are Africans. The police warned against indulging in such riots as they would affect the public safety of the emirate.

The police have also warned against filming illegal activities and spreading them on social media. Instead of posting on social media, these should be reported to the police. Publishing and disseminating such videos fall under the purview of cybercrimes under UAE federal law.

The law stipulates that anyone who publishes or disseminates inflammatory news or content that is likely to provoke public anger or cause fear in the public or is against the national interest and the national economy shall be punished with imprisonment of not less than one year and a fine of not less than one lakh dirhams. Last week, footage of a similar beating at a mall in Ras Al Khaimah went viral on social media.

Attack in shopping mall in UAE; Arrested after the video went viral

Ras Al Khaimah: The group that caused a beating in a shopping mall in the UAE was arrested. The incident took place in Ras Al Khaimah. The police made the arrest after the video footage of this was widely circulated on social media.

The Ras Al Khaimah police noticed the video and identified the youths who caused the beating and arrested them. The police have also arrested the person who videotaped the incident and uploaded it on social media. All were handed over to public prosecution for further proceedings.

Apart from the violation of public decency, the police also informed that by circulating such videos, they are involved in crimes like defamation and violation of privacy.
