Beaumont-en-Auge is part of the selection of 14 finalists for the contest of the favorite village of the French. He represents Normandy.
In 2023, will the favorite village of the French be that of Beaumont-en-Auge in Calvados? Candidate for the title, the town has a typical architecture, with half-timbered houses and colorful facades. “It’s a town that is very lively, where there are a lot of people, a lot of entertainment for a small country village”describes a woman. “I feel peaceful there”adds a man.
Voting open until March 10
Traders believe in the victory of their village. “I think Beaumont can bring us, as merchants, a lot more customers”, explains Marie Verrier, co-manager of the restaurant “Le Café des arts” with her husband. The town is home to the Saint-Sauveur church, founded in the 11th century and listed as a heritage monument. “Beaumont-en-Auge alone represents Normandy“, argues Sylviane Ébrard, mayor of the village since October 2021. The votes are open until March 10 at midnight.
