Moments after the dramatic announcement of the dissolution of the Knesset, Srugim learned that a conversation between Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Attorney General Gali in Rabbi Miara last Friday led to the decision to bring forward the election.

The spokesman clarified that there was no way to pass the extension of the Judea and Samaria laws, which are due to expire next week.

As you may recall, the coalition tried to put the Judea and Samaria regulations to a vote earlier this month, but were discriminated against when the proposal fell on first reading. Coalition members Jida Rinawi Zoabi and Mazen Ganaim voted against, and Idit Silman was absent.

Before and after the vote, Justice Minister Gideon Saar issued statements stating that failure to pass the law is the end of the coalition. Immediately after the announcement of the dissolution of the Knesset, he said that “the irresponsibility of certain Knesset members in the coalition led to the inevitable result. The goal in the upcoming elections is clear: to prevent Netanyahu from returning to power and enslaving the state to his personal interests.”
