A school in Iran has been ordered to remove the portraits of Ali Khamenei, and the pictures of the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ruhollah Khomeini, which hang in classrooms in all schools in Iran. The decision came after numerous videos surfaced on social media showing students destroying the photos or replacing them with anti-government slogans or pictures of Mahsa Amini, the 22-year-old whose death in hijab police custody sparked the current uprising against the regime.

According to the report on the Iran International TV channel, the regime forces took on a more active role in the management of the schools, and many principals were summoned or fired due to the lack of harsh responses to the protesting students. School officials tried to force the students to sing a song, “Peace Commander” in praise of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, some female students refused to sing, then government agents appeared and beat and assaulted the female students. According to reports, one student died of her injuries, and another is hospitalized in critical condition, including reports of several arrests.

The promotion of the song in the state media is intended to indoctrinate children and brainwash them, critics claim. They also say that the promotion of the song by the Islamic Republic’s state media and propaganda organizations is reminiscent of Nazi propaganda methods that involved teaching children and youth songs in praise of Hitler
