Gabriela Slavova was released under house arrest after 3 months in a cell

“I did not commit this crime and I ask for leniency. Our relationship with Peyo was dynamic and exciting. Sometimes it was not harmonious like in any family. We managed without raising our voices. There was interference from his parents, disinheritance, threats. With Peyo, we never created stress, we always found balance even when we were apart. We decided to get married.”

Gabriela Slavova, who was arrested 3 months ago for the murder of her husband Peyo Peev together with her mother Krasimira Trifonova, told the Court of Appeal in Sofia. Gabriela asked to be released from custody and denied that she was involved in the murder of her child’s father.

“I didn’t push him into the seat, I didn’t sit on his lap. My testimony was forced, harassed and pressured for hours. It was dictated to me and I was emotionally devastated and in fear of my children being taken away. Now the sons they are with my husband’s parents. They don’t know their needs. They were kidnapped by the Ministry of Interior,” she said.

Gabriela asked to be released to care for her boys, who were in poor health – one with respiratory problems and the other with heart problems.

Peyo’s father, who was in the courtroom, denied this was true.

“The children have no diseases, they are alive and healthy. This mother did not think about them when she killed my son. She spent the whole night rummaging through his phone and making plans,” said the victim’s father, Orlin Peev.

Before the magistrates, Gabriela complained about the conditions in the detention center. She was subjected to terrible torture because the bedbugs in the cell sucked her blood. For 102 days she lived and slept with cockroaches. She claimed that she had a cerebral infarction and facial paralysis, but no one paid attention.

“There is a danger that this will cause permanent damage and then I won’t be able to help you, especially if I go out in a coffin,” she said through tears as she read her words from a piece of paper.

Gabriela explained that she needed justice and assured that if she was released, she would not go into hiding. According to magistrates, she took good care of her two children, had no previous convictions, had good personal data and a fixed address. After January 22, no one questioned her and there was no way to influence witnesses or commit another crime.

Gabriela’s children are with Peyo’s parents. They were handed over to the family immediately after the arrest of his wife and her mother, Krasimira Trifonova.
