In 2022, EU countries produced almost 34.3 billion liters of alcoholic beer and 1.6 billion liters of beer with less than 0.5% alcohol or no alcohol content.

Compared to 2021, EU alcoholic beer production increased by 7%, returning to levels closer to the pre-pandemic year of 2019, when the production was 34,700 million liters. As for non-alcoholic beer, there was no change compared to 2021. Total beer production (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) in the EU in 2022 was almost 80 liters per inhabitant.

Among the EU countries with available data, Germany remained the top producer in 2022, with 7.6 billion liters (over 22% of total EU production). This means that approximately one in four alcoholic beers produced in the EU came from Germany.

Germany was followed by Spain with 3.9 billion liters produced (over 11% of total EU production), Poland with 3.7 billion liters (11%), the Netherlands with 2.6 billion liters (almost 8%), and France and Italy, both with 2 billion liters (6% each).
