Beer with matcha tea? Meet this viral drink

by times news cr

The combination of beer and matcha tea went viral on social media because the mixture looks unusual at first glance. Although the fusion of the bitter drinks has caused a stir, its exquisite taste conquered the palates of many.

The fusion drink, also known as “Matcha Beer” quickly gained popularity in Japan, but has slowly begun to spread to other parts of the world.

The reason the blend has been a growing trend in specialty coffee shops, tea rooms and restaurants is to balance the earthy, umami flavor of matcha with the malty and hoppy notes of beer.

How to prepare it?

You will need one to two teaspoons of ceremonial grade matcha, which is a type of matcha made from the youngest and most tender leaves of the plant, and a beer of your choice.

•Strain the teaspoons of matcha through a stainless steel strainer to avoid lumps.

•Add 1/4 cup hot (not boiling) water to the strained matcha in a small bowl.

•Beat the mixture in circles inside the bowl to incorporate all the powder, then in a zigzag motion until you get a foamy layer.

•Pour the prepared matcha into a glass with beer.
