Beetlejuice 2: Now the first teaser is here

The juice is loose!

35 years after the premiere of the cult classic, we get Beetlejuice Beetlejuice alias Beetlejuice 2.

Earlier this week we got to see the first images from the sequel, and now the first teaser trailer is here.

For those who haven’t seen the classic from 1988, it’s about ghosts Adam and Barbara who die in a traffic accident. When a new family moves into their house they refuse to leave.

In an attempt to scare the Deetz family out of their home, the deceased seek help from the evil spirit Betelgeuse. Or Beetlejuice as the name is so nicely pronounced.

Several familiar faces from the Tim Burton film return to their familiar and beloved characters in Beetlejuice 2.

So we get to see Winona Ryder (Stranger Things), Alec Baldwin (The Departed) and Catherine O’Hara (Home Alone, Schitt’s Creek). Michael Keaton (Birdman, Batman) of course also returns as the title role.

A new, but well-known face that also appears is Wednesday-star Jenna Ortega. She plays the role of Astrid Deetz – the daughter of Winona’s character Lydia.

In the sequel, we meet the Deetz family again after a family tragedy.

This causes the three generations of the family to return to Winter River. Here, Lydia’s daughter finds a mysterious model of the city in the attic, and the portal to the afterlife accidentally opens.

Now it’s only a matter of time before someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to cause mayhem.

Check out the teaser trailer below.

Warner Bros. have worked with Beetlejuice 2 for a longer period of time.

Winona could confirm that back in 2015, when she was a guest Late Night With Seth Meyers. The year before, Tim Burton could tell that he missed the character and wanted to work with Michael again.

– There is only one Beetlejuice and that is Michael. It’s a script and I would love to work with him again. I think there is a better chance of that now than ever. I miss the character. There is something wonderful about that. I think we are closer now than we have been, Tim said in 2014.

Ten years later, the sequel is a fact, and will premiere this autumn. Specifically, September 6.
