DECRYPTION – The farming world continues to denounce a straitjacket of standards that penalize them compared to foreign producers. Imported products which ultimately end up on our plates.

“To name things badly is to add unhappiness to the world”, wrote Camus. Gabriel Attal was not mistaken. This Sunday, the Prime Minister took up the words of angry farmers, pointing out, for the first time, the “unfair competition” suffered by French peasants. “I want us to clarify things and see what additional measures we can take on these stories of unfair competition”he declared during his trip to a farm in Indre-et-Loire. “It’s not normal that you are prevented from using certain products”while “neighboring countries” can use it, insisted the head of government.

A few days earlier, farmers were upset to find no measures relating to the regulation of the use of phytosanitary products, the size of farms or even access to water in government announcements. “This is the heart of the problem and the executive provides no concrete response”is indignant…
