/ The coach of the Iraqi national team, the Spaniard Jesus Casas, confirmed on Monday that the coaching staff analyzed the performance of the Jordanian national team during the matches it played in the group stage of the Asian Cup, indicating that he prepared to win today’s match.
“Of course, getting 9 points in the first round of the tournament is important, but we do not depend on that and we are working to win this match,” Casas said in a statement to the Qatari sports channel “beIN Sport”, followed by Shafak News Agency, before the start of the match between the Iraqi and Jordanian national teams in the round of 16 of the Asian Cup.
Regarding whether the Iraqi national team coach expects a surprise from his Jordanian counterpart, Casas explained, “Regarding the friendly matches we played with the Jordanian national team, the last of which was in October 2023, we do not rely on them to evaluate the Jordanian national team because many players in both teams were replaced.”
He added, “We analyzed the Jordanian team in the matches it played in the group stage, and we now have a clear idea of the team’s strengths and weaknesses. It is at the same level as the Iraqi team, and according to the evaluation, the percentage is equal, 50% for the Iraqi team and the same for the Jordanian team.”
