The candidate of Podemos for the Mayor’s Office of Madrid, Roberto Sotomayor, is not opposed to the idea of bringing the Olympic Games to Madrid, but first he wants “Olympic neighborhoods”, since in his opinion the basic sport in the capital “is destroyed and there are no sports facilities”.
In an interview with Europa Press, Sotomayor criticized the fact that the Madrid City Council has 11 facilities ready to open “and has them closed to take a photo.” “The title of Madrid World Sports City is another marketing operation by Almeida, who meanwhile is killing off popular races like Elipa due to lack of police officers,” he criticized.
The former professional athlete wants Madrid residents, especially young people, to have access to sport before an election. “Our policy would be to make it easier for neighborhood associations to have facilities for socializing.
