If you are not in charge of a litter of human puppies, you may not know that the literary saga ‘The School of Magical Animals’ written by Margit Auer, illustrated by Nina Dulleck and edited among us by Edelweiss, is made up, up to now, of nine excellent, bizarre, youthful and fantastic volumes in which the students of a sacrosanct and centuries-old educational institution in Germania interact with a handful of foxes, turtles, penguins and chameleons capable of not only speaking but accompanying young humans in that a road so full of dangerous (and exciting) curves that it is realizing that life begins to get serious very soon. Those who study at the Winterstein Schule share with those of the Zurbarán of ‘Physics and Chemistry’, those of Hogwarts and those of those American ‘high schools’ where everything usually happens (no, don’t think about ‘Carrie’, that’s another level of horror, and of fantasy and magic it has little) the mess of first-time loves, the gang of posh girls who make your life impossible, the nice but bizarre teacher, the old-fashioned director, the end-of-year performance which, of course, your father will not be able to attend even though he promised you…
In short, handsome books with substance that have become beautiful films that sweep Tedesca-speaking countries and receive awards from the German Film Academy, awards that instead of being called Goya and César are called Lola in tribute to the creature played by Dietrich in ‘The Blue Angel’ Do you remember, ‘Ich bin die fesche Lola’…?
If your infants missed the first delivery, give them this second one. Because here the princesses are brave, very brave. And the bad boy gives an air to the young Hero Fiennes, word.
