Article Cat-se Vietnamese stars up to 2 billion VND/show attract multi-dimensional views from readers. Many people think that today’s singers make money too easily, singing one night is equal to the wealth an ordinary person accumulates in a few years. Some people question the singer’s “explosion and fantasy” and creating bogus numbers.
According to people in the profession, the phrase “Billion-dollar salary” It sounds simple, but in fact it is the result of the stars’ almost unbelievable career process.
The story behind billions in salary
Need to clarify, not all singers have salaries up to billions. The number of S-list stars in Vietnam is currently counted by no more than one hand.
Performing activities are never simply about going to a place to sing, taking money and bringing it home. To have a performance program requires the participation of dozens of people and many stages, all of which translate into money.
For each show, the crew accompanying the star is at least 5-6 people including: manager, assistant, makeup, stylist, media or/and social media. (social).
Currently, S-list stars all run or belong to management companies. The crew of a female singer belongs to the company, the “homegrown” expenses calculated monthly are about 100 million VND, about 1 billion VND per year.
The better the crew, the higher the cost. In particular, there is a case where an S-class male singer has to “support” an entire corporation.
“Even if the salary is 1 billion, if you only sing 2 shows/month, there won’t be much left,” a media manager who asked to remain anonymous told VietNamNet.

High salary means many conditions. A male singer has an average salary of 1.2 billion VND, in fact the contract always has a clause “commitment to viral social network”.
“It’s not natural that he always does this or that trick every time he appears. He must pay the rights to the brand,” according to the expert.
This person also believes that the singer’s career can only move forward and cannot be allowed to stagnate. Many singers sell assets such as houses and land to make products that are praised for their careers. The truth is that there is no other choice.
Experts said: “Vietnamese artists live on brands instead of products because the audience does not spend money and the copyright situation is complicated. However, to have shows, they are forced to maintain the production of new products.” .
On average, the cost of making a MV ranges from 500 million – 1 billion VND, the album “costs” 1 billion VND or more. For a B-class name, the cost of organizing a press conference and media is about 300 million VND; social depending on budget.
On the contrary, A and S ranks are the realm of social battles. The fact that a MV costs 1.5 billion VND to produce but the social costs increase to 2.5 billion, or even more, is no longer new.
The average cost of buying a new song is 10,000 USD (about 254 million VND), not including mixing, mixing and accompanying copyright fees. In addition, not to mention the costs of costumes, transportation, meals…
The situation where singers spend all their assets but their products still fail is very common in an increasingly competitive market.
A singer spent hundreds of millions of dong on branded clothes, but the MV earned less than 1 million views. Female singer L. made a series of MVs in the form of live sessions, the live band alone “cost” more than 1 billion VND and then it was like “throwing away”.
For the past two years, except for A+ and S ranks, it has been almost impossible for singers in the lower ranks to apply for sponsorship. In some cases, the sponsorship failed because the brand demanded too much, and the singer – with a high ego and strict requirements for artistic quality – had to grit his teeth and refuse.
You get what you pay for
From the perspective of people in the same profession, musician Nguyen Van Chung sees the phenomenon of S-list stars reaching billions in salary as “nothing to discuss”.
The rule “you get what you pay for”, “where there is supply, there is demand” is always true. The “huge” number reflects that the artist brings adequate values while the brand receives benefits equivalent to, or even higher than, the amount spent.
“Brands are very wise in investment and business activities. Only they understand best whether spending billions of dollars to invite artists to perform is worth it or not, no one can force or influence them,” he said.
Nguyen Van Chung commented that high income always comes with high responsibility. Artists must ensure their obligations to customers and tax obligations (in relation to the State and society), thereby contributing to the development of the country.
“We can only condemn those who have income high due to breaking the law, how can you condemn those who try to build a good personal image and achieve the highest rankings in the professional field to be worthy of the money customers spend?”, the musician stated his opinion. .
He also disagrees with the word “price gouging” because: “Pricing yourself high or low is everyone’s right. Everyone has the right to give their desired value, whether to accept it or not is up to the customer. – something very natural in society.”
