The Fayuan Architecture Museum takes its name from the book “ying zào fă yuan” by Chinese architect Chengzu Yao, which documents traditional building methods in the Yangtze River region at the end of the Qing Dynasty, said museum curator Zhu Xiaodi. The choice of this name is not insignificant. It pays homage to vernacular architecture and the craftsmen builders who have preserved this precious heritage over the centuries, he explained.
