The Minister for Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda, Ione Belarra, has criticized the line of guarantees for young people and families with minors for the purchase of housing that the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced this Sunday, because it “fosters the mortgage spiral” and “It’s going to drive families into debt.”
This was expressed by the leader of Podemos in a message on her Twitter profile, in which she stressed that the Government “must focus on promoting fair rents for citizens, expanding the public park and enforcing the housing law until the last comma”.
“Fostering the mortgage spiral is going to lead families to get into debt”, he has ruled, all this after Sánchez has announced the creation of a line of guarantees through the Official Credit Institute (ICO) to guarantee 20% of the first home mortgage.
Specifically, the guarantees will be allocated to young people under 35 years of age with an annual income of less than 37,800 euros and to families with dependent children. For the President of the Government, it is a necessary measure in the face of the “housing emergency”.
