The Ministry of Defense of Belarus announced the start of command and staff exercises in the Gomel and Grodno regions of the republic, bordering Poland, Day.Az reports with reference to Interfax.

“During the exercise, it is planned to work out the issues of security and defense of a territorial defense facility, as well as participation in ensuring martial law measures with the involvement of militia volunteers,” the Belarusian department said in a statement.

It is also known that in the Gomel region the territorial defense forces of the Rogachev and Kormyansky regions will take part in the exercises, and in the Grodno region – the Voronovsky region.

The purpose of the exercise in the Ministry of Defense was to assess the readiness of officials of military units of territorial troops to perform combat training tasks, improve the skills of reserve officers in managing subordinates, as well as train personnel to perform their duties in solving territorial defense tasks.
