History of Belarusian Yuriy Zaitsev “Belsat” TV channel told. The decision to refuse international protection was signed by the deputy head of the migration service of Ukraine Natalya Navumenko.

The official explained the decision as an “improvement of the state” of human rights in Belarus, referring to an article in the “Arguments and Facts” publication.

In the text of “AiF” it was mentioned about good conditions for prisoners behind bars – they say that the members of the PK-22 medical unit allegedly “can be the envy of some district clinics”.

At the same time, 2021 was full of repression against civil society. Thousands of people were behind bars in administrative and criminal cases, thousands had to leave their homeland due to persecution.

The Belarusian at the front is waiting for his case to be reviewed, he cannot go to Western Europe to study with his brothers, because he has not yet received status, international protection in Ukraine, and he is still wanted internationally.

Belarusian law enforcement agencies have been looking for Yury Zaitsev since 2014 to prosecute him for the creation of a criminal organization, smuggling and illegal trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances.

According to the case materials, which appeared in the decision of the Ukrainian court on his detention, Yury Zaitsev was the ideologue of the organization and the head of Internet resources through which drugs and psychotropic substances were distributed in 2013-2014. In 2016, 16 other participants in this spice sales scheme were sentenced to 9 to 19 years in prison in Belarus.

After his arrest, his lawyer did not tell Svaboda that the persecution in Belarus is political. Political motivation appeared later, when activists of the Belarusian House in Ukraine, headed by Vital Shyshov and Radzivon Batulin, joined his defense.

Yury Zaitsev himself was arrested in Ukraine at the request of the Belarusian security forces in August 2020, he was wanted as an activist of one of the anarchist organizations. He spent 7 months in Odessa pre-trial detention center, after which, in October 2021, he was transferred to house arrest. Now Zaitsev volunteers to fight for Ukraine against Russian aggression.
