Belgian biologist Jan Steyaert wins prestigious science prize in the US for research into camel antibodies

“My ambitions don’t reach that far,” says Steyaert. “Winning Nobel prizes means lobbying, setting a machine in motion… I am already very happy and proud of what I have achieved.”

“It is always said that fundamental research makes little sense. I think I am the example of someone who shows that you can also create wealth with sound fundamental research. And that you can translate scientific research into technology that also employs people. I’m genuinely proud of it.”
