Belgian Week will arrive in Havana for the 18th time, this time from November 1 to 15 and with various activities for all audiences interested in the culture of this European country.
As announced to the state agency Prensa Latina (PL) by the Belgian ambassador in the Cuban capital, Jean-Jacques Bastien, the proposals range from live music to the presence of comics.
In the first case, he announced the participation of prominent musicians from his country, who will share with Cuban artists. While the world of comics will be present from Art Nouveau, drawing workshops and technology.
Precisely about Art Nouveau, the diplomat recalled that this year the artistic movement born in Europe celebrates its 130th anniversary. Despite the place of emergence, he assured that Havana has fantastic exponents.
On the other hand, the person in charge of Cooperation and Culture of the Belgian embassy, Lysbeth Daumont, added to PL that among the musicians from that European nation who will arrive at the event are Jef Neve, the singer-songwriter Constanza Guzmán and the accordionist Tuur Florizoone.
Furthermore, as a first, Daumont highlighted the presentation for the first time on the island of a delegation from the Belgian Comics Center, a leading institution on this topic and whose director, Isabelle Debekker, will participate in a panel, while four other contemporary comic artists They will hold workshops, conferences and exhibitions.
During the conference, an Art Nouveau night will also take place at the Fábrica de Arte Cubano, a space where several Cuban cartoonists will present the magazine Kronicas-The Imaginary Inventory.
The presentation of this 18th Belgian Week in Havana took place at the Vitrina de Valonia Cultural Center, in Old Havana, where numerous activities were also organized between artists from both nations, PL concluded.
