After 13 years of presidency, Martial Bellon will be replaced by Olivier Klotz.
Martial Bellon, who had been head of SIG Strasbourg for 13 years, left office a few weeks ahead of schedule, giving way to his successor Olivier Klotz, the Alsatian basketball club announced on Saturday.
Olivier Klotz, elected on June 19 to take over from Martial Bellon, was initially to take office in the fall. Under the presidency of Martial Bellon (67), the club participated in 11 finals in all competitions, including five consecutive ProA. He won two French Cups, two Leaders Cup, a Champions trophy and a title of Champion of France Espoirs.
Olivier Klotz, 61, is managing director of the French subsidiary of the German company Heuft, which specializes in bottling. He is also president of the Alsatian branch of Medef.
Strasbourg qualified in extremis for the play-offs this season in Elite before being eliminated in the quarter-finals by future champion Monaco.
