by time news

Luca Giurato has passed away suddenly at the age of 84, struck by a heart attack. “We were in Santa Marinella, to enjoy the last glimpse of summer…”, confirms his wife Daniela Vergara in tears to Adnkronos. Born on December 23, 1939, in Rome, the journalist was married for the second time and has a son from his first marriage to Gianna Furio.

The Beginnings

He began his career as a reporter early, employed at Paese Sera at just over twenty years old. A professional since ’65, he was the protagonist of a brilliant rise as a journalist and television presenter: his first television appearance was in 1992 on ‘A tutta stampa’, a press review within Tg2notte. From there, he participated in countless programs, from ‘Domenica In’, where he arrived in the autumn of 1993, to ‘Unomattina’ (from ’94), from ‘La vita in diretta’ to ‘Quelli che il calcio’ and many others. Giurato was also a commentator in reality shows like ‘L’isola dei famosi’ and ‘I raccomandati’, respectively in 2008 and 2009.

A Beloved Personality

In addition to his smile and irony, the journalist is famous for his gaffes and ‘slips’ of the tongue, which over the years have made him a very beloved character, often featured on TV programs such as ‘Gialappa’s’, ‘Mai Dire Goal’, and ‘Striscia La notizia’, which even created a dedicated segment titled ‘Ci avrei Giurato’. Besides his son and wife, the journalist is survived by two brothers, Flavio Giurato, a singer-songwriter, and Blasco Giurato, a cinematographer, as well as a sister, Claudia, a geologist.
