The new Minister of Internal Security, Itamar Ben Gabir just took office, and is already making changes in his office. This morning (Thursday) he fired the director general of the Ministry of Internal Security, Tomer Lotan.

“I met this morning with the Director General of the Ministry of Internal Security Mr. Tomer Lotan and we agreed on the termination of his position,” wrote Ben Gvir on the Twitter account. “I want to thank Mr. Lotan for his service to the State of Israel.”

It should be mentioned that this is a position of trust, and it is accepted that when a new minister enters, the CEO is replaced, therefore it is not really a dismissal.

As a reminder, this is the third director general to leave his post after the new minister took office. Yesterday, after the appointment of Yoav Kish as minister of education, the director general of the ministry, Dalit Stauber, announced the end of her term. This is her third term as CEO of the office.

Stauber held the position in the years 2011-2013 under Ministers Gideon Sa’ar and Shai Firon, and was reappointed on December 14, 2021 by Minister Yifat Shasha-Biton.

After her, the Director General of the Ministry of Transportation, Michal Frank, announced her intention to end her position with the change of service, and after an orderly transfer of the baton.

In a press release, Frank wrote: “I had the privilege of serving Israeli society in one of the most influential and complex economic positions in the public service. During the term, we led new priorities, which translated into unprecedented investments in public transportation and mass transit systems. We emphasized long-term strategic plans and structural reforms and led Plans to realize the vision of public transportation, and to ensure connectivity and interconnectivity between the various means of transportation.”

“I thank the outgoing Minister of Transportation, MK Merav Michaeli, for his trust in me and the vision he outlined for the transportation industry. I wish success to the minister-designate, MK Miri Regev, and to the office,” she wrote.
