The demonstration took place today (Monday) in Jerusalem near the Israeli Knesset and numbered tens of thousands of demonstrators who came to express support for the legal reform.

The minister spoke of the great importance of the reform and said: “Do you know why legal reform is needed? Because when we came to propose a death penalty law for terrorists, who objected? When we wanted to propose an immunity law for soldiers, who objected? And when we talked about minimum sentences in the Protection Law, who objected? And when I wanted to make a round in the police and send Ami Ashad to the police college, who objected?”

The minister announced his intention to leave the government but announced that he would not do so in the end. In his speech he said: “Comrades, I want to confess. I was at a meeting of coalition leaders today and the truth is that I decided in my heart to leave the government, because I thought and I still think that we should vote on the reform today. And I thought and I still think that we should not surrender to the anarchists, but when I went outside and saw the demonstration of the anarchists I realized that if I retire, I give them victory. They will not win!”.

According to him: “I am saying simply, we will remain in the government, a right-wing government, but we will demand reform now!”.

At the end of his words, Minister Ben Gabir said: “One last word, I see all the tens of thousands, the hundreds of thousands, all the silent majority, and I say to you, go on, protest, shout, make your voice heard, Israel is alive!”
