Benedict Cumberbatch will invite Ukrainian refugees to his home

British actor Benedict Cumberbatch said he wants to take part in a government program to provide housing for Ukrainian refugees. Representatives of the public, charitable organizations and businesses will be able to offer apartments to Ukrainians who have arrived in the UK, even if they have no family ties.

The actor made a loud statement on the red carpet of the British Academy Film Awards in London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Made famous by leading roles in Sherlock and Doctor Strange, the actor previously wore a blue and yellow badge on his lapel as a sign of his position. But Cumberbatch stressed that much more needs to be done – to make donations and put pressure on politicians to let refugees into the country.

“Everyone should do everything in his power … There are a huge number of people who voluntarily took people to their homes, and I myself hope to be a part of this,” Reuters quoted him as saying.

Participating in the festival in Santa Barbara, Benedict Cumberbatch walked out wrapped in the Ukrainian flag during the presentation of the Cinema Vanguard film awards.
