Benfica Faces Injury Setback as Aursnes and Gouveia Sustain Last-Minute Injuries

by time news

Benfica revealed in an official statement that Frederik Aursnes suffered a muscle injury in his right thigh and Tiago Gouveia is dealing with an anterior dislocation of his right shoulder.

The Norwegian was substituted in the first half of the match against Estrela da Amadora on Saturday night. Benfica did not disclose the severity of the muscle injury or the expected recovery time.

His replacement was Tiago Gouveia, who also left the game injured in the shoulder later, in the 86th minute.

Both players join the list of injured players in the club, which already included goalkeeper André Gomes, full-back Jan-Niklas Beste, who has a muscle injury in his left thigh, and Schjelderup, who, according to the club, “is following a treatment and reintegration plan.”

All are likely absentees for the fourth round of the championship. Benfica will visit Moreirense on Friday, with the match kick-off scheduled for 8:15 PM.
