Bangalore: It has been raining heavily in Bengaluru for the past 5 days. As a result, more than 70 areas including White Field, Marathahalli, Mahadeva Pura, Emalur, Bellandur are reeling under floods. Rainwater has also entered apartments, luxury bungalows and villas there. Due to this, people who were rescued by boat and tractor have taken shelter in private hotels. As the hostels are overcrowded, the rates have also gone up manifold.

The flood that surrounded the residences did not completely recede yesterday for the 5th day. Therefore, the employees of the Bengaluru Corporation were engaged in the work of evacuating the water surrounding the residences with electric motors. Due to the lack of adequate drainage facilities, the employees of the Corporation faced great difficulty in draining the flood due to encroachments. In some places, people were paralyzed indoors. As online food delivery has been completely blocked there, the millionaires are probably also forced to go without food.

Impact on IT organizations: Due to the rains and floods in Bengaluru, the campuses of IT companies in places like White Field, Marathahalli, Mahadevapura, Outer Ring Road have also been inundated. Employees could not come to work. These establishments have been paralyzed due to disconnection of electricity and water supply. As a result, IT companies have suffered a loss of more than Rs 500 crore, according to the association of those companies.

Also, in a letter written to Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bombay, “32 percent of Bangalore’s income comes from IT companies. But the government does not undertake the works of road facilities, drinking water, electricity, traffic congestion control and flood risk prevention. “If this situation is not rectified, we will have to move to other places,” it said. After that, IT Minister Aswath Narayanan assured yesterday that the problems would be resolved within 6 months after meeting the representatives of the IT companies.
