The directorate stated in a statement to Hala that, “in response to a citizen’s complaint against her husband, who assaulted and harmed her, assaulted his son, put a knife to his neck, stole his wife’s belongings, took his young children, and fled to the city of Misurata. An arrest warrant was issued against him by the Public Prosecution in 2022, after information was received by the investigation members that the accused had returned to the city of Benghazi and was present in the Sirti area.”
The statement added: “Immediately, the head of the Bouatni Police Station issued his instructions to search, investigate and arrest the wanted person. With the follow-up of the head of the investigation and inquiry unit at the station, the investigation members went out to the Al-Sirti area and prepared a tight ambush for him. They were able to arrest him and take him to the station. Upon investigation, it became clear that his name is A.S.M., born in 1975. He confessed to what was attributed to him and was referred to the Public Prosecution.”
