During a visit to the various facilities and units of the “Green Energy Park” in Benguerir, in the Rehamna province, Ms. Schulze, accompanied by a large German delegation, affirmed that Morocco possesses the necessary skills and experience in renewable energy production, intended for both the national and international markets.
In a statement to MAP on the occasion, the German minister highlighted the role of this platform, which focuses on solar energy development, in strengthening the capacities of Morocco and the African continent in this field, while contributing to carbon dioxide emission reduction efforts.
She also expressed her country’s keen interest in further promoting cooperation with Morocco in renewable energy, emphasizing its significance for both nations and the global community.
For his part, the Director General of the Institute for Research in Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN), Samir Rachidi, stated that Ms. Schulze’s visit underscores the excellence of the fruitful bilateral cooperation with German institutions under the German federal government’s supervision.
Mr. Rachidi further elaborated that IRESEN’s collaboration with these German institutions focuses on developing green hydrogen technology, mentioning ongoing projects in this area, including the green fuel production project scheduled to launch in 2025, with German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development support.
This project exemplifies the successful partnership and aims to produce green fuel using green hydrogen and renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power.
The Green Energy Park is a solar energy research, testing, and training platform located in the green city of Benguerir.
Developed by IRESEN in partnership with the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, this unique platform in Africa fosters collaboration, promotes knowledge sharing, and facilitates the acquisition of expertise among partner universities and industrialists.
