Benjamin Mendy has decided to take a labor court to Manchester Cityhis former club, from which he claims million-dollar compensation for unauthorized salary deductions after being accused of rape and sexual assault.

The 29-year-old French full-back left City last summer, upon the expiration of his contract, after being acquitted of various accusations of attempted rape. According to the footballer, City stopped paying him in September 2021 when his arrest was revealed. He is now seeking to receive everything he stopped collecting in these two years.

Mendy spent five months in jail on a preventive basis before being released on bail in January 2022. The first trial took place in August and in January he was acquitted of six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. He was later acquitted of raping one woman and attempting to rape another in July at a retrial.

“Multimillion-dollar claim”

In a statement, his UK lawyer, Nick De Marco, said Mendy is seeking a “multi-million dollar claim” and the case is expected to be heard in 2024.
