Prime Minister Naftali Bennett responded this morning (Monday) to the criticism heard last night in Vladimir Zalanski’s speech on Israeli policy toward the war in Ukraine. In his speech at the departure ceremony of the Israeli aid delegation for the establishment of a field hospital in Ukraine, Bennett addressed the complexity of the crisis and noted the ways in which Israel has contributed in recent weeks.

“This is a very special morning. I am very excited and happy to be here this morning, and to launch the relief delegation that will establish a field hospital in western Ukraine,” Bennett said. “For the past week all the wonderful partners who are here – the State Department, the Ministry of Health, Sheba and Schneider Hospitals, and the Schusterman Foundation – have been working hard around the clock to get this initiative up and running, and set off. There have been some obstacles along the way but we have overcome.”

“It is important for me to say: Israel has been reaching out for aid in the crisis in Ukraine for several weeks, right from the first moment – in various and varied channels,” he clarified. “We are managing this unfortunate crisis in a sensitive, generous and responsible manner, while balancing the various considerations – and they are complex.”

He further mentioned that “right from the first days we took out aid planes with many tons of medical equipment and other things. We pick up immigrants here – entitled to the Law of Return and non-return – and open our doors until the rage passes to give them balm.”

“This morning, I want to say most clearly: the people of Israel and the Israeli public can be proud of the contribution and assistance of the State of Israel to the citizens of Ukraine,” he concluded. “You will be proud of all the actions that the State of Israel does. Drug shipments, the establishment of a field hospital, actions in other dimensions as well, there are not many countries that operate on such a scale.”

Foreign Minister Yair Lapid added that “Israel is the first country to send a field hospital into Ukraine to treat the victims of the war. We do this for the sake of Ukrainian children, but our children also need to know that the State of Israel does not stand aside. Where there is suffering and terror, we We will extend a comforting hand and do everything we can to help. “

“We are sending with this hospital not only the best medical staffs in the world, but also our hearts, our support and identification. This is a cruel and unnecessary war, and it must stop,” Lapid exclaimed. “The last few weeks are a reminder that we must always be strong. To be able to defend ourselves at any moment and in any condition. They are also a reminder that there is evil in the world, but there is also good. Countless good people want to help in times of distress.”
