Naftali Bennett supports the agreement: “Not everything that is good for Lebanon is bad”
Last night, Bennett revealed his opinion on the agreement with Lebanon: “When I assumed the position of Prime Minister, I initiated a negotiation process with Lebanon regarding the economic waters, and this out of a desire to create a reality of “rig against rig” and for the sake of Israel’s other economic, security and strategic interests. Not everything that is good for Lebanon is bad for Israel. There are times when it is possible to reach a situation of profit for both sides. I saw value in reaching an agreement; But not at any cost, certainly not under threats. Now they have reached an agreement under different conditions and in a different way than they had planned, and yet, under the current circumstances, it is right to approve it.”
There is no place either for victory celebrations or for crying out loud
“From an in-depth knowledge of the issue of the agreement with Lebanon, and after studying the positions of the heads of all the security organizations, I decided to support the vote that will take place. I am well aware of the complexity of approving such a decision on the eve of an election. In a normal state of affairs, we would have to wait for the next government to make the decision, but the circumstances require us to accept A decision right now, since the security challenges, as presented by all the heads of the systems, create a narrow and short decision window.”
“There is no place for victory celebrations, nor for crying out loud as if it were a catastrophe. The agreement is not a historic diplomatic victory, but it is also not a terrible surrender agreement. This is a series that is required, due to the circumstances we have found ourselves in, at a problematic time.”
