Meirav and Herzl Hajaj, the bereaved parents of Lt. Shir HaYad, who was killed in a terrorist attack in Jerusalem, asked on behalf of dozens of bereaved families members of the government not to attend Memorial Day ceremonies – and “not to come and hug us,” as they put it.
They wrote: “We, Meirav and Herzl, the parents of Lt. Shir Hajaj, on behalf of dozens of bereaved families, demand that members of the government not come to the Memorial Day ceremonies and not come to hug us.
“They are invited to go to the alternative ceremony of terrorist families, where they will be received with love.”
They added: “By forming a government with the supporters of the terrorists who murdered our children and loved ones, while stabbing in the heart and betraying the values of the bereaved families and the citizens of Israel with the Muslim Brotherhood, which is a party of declared terrorists and supporters, also according to Bennett and Shaked – and all This is after they promised above all that they would fight terrorists and terrorism, and after Bennett looked us in the eye and promised us, the bereaved families, in countless meetings that they would fight terrorism with us.

Shir HaYad was killed in early 2017 in a terrorist attack on the Commissioner’s Palace promenade. Along with her, Lt. Yael Yekutiel, Lt. Erez Orbach and Lt. Shira Tzur HaYad were murdered.
