Hertha or Union – that is the question here.
Even before the derby, Berlin is discussing which club is really number 1 in Berlin – regardless of the result of the derby on Saturday (6.30 p.m.).
Sure: Union is better in the table, plays internationally. But Hertha has more Bundesliga years and is not considered a district club.
Who is really Berlin’s number 1?
Handball national player and Berlin-based Silvio Heinevetter (37): “For me Union is currently number 1, the question doesn’t really arise when you look at the results of the last two years. If you just look at the great fans and the stadium, Union is permanently number 1 for me. But of course Hertha has a huge project at the start too, with a Fredi Bobic I think Hertha can still make a difference. Since it’s a home game, Union wins, of course. “

World champion Thomas Häßler (55, coach BFC Preussen): “Both clubs are strong, both are my number 1! Why shouldn’t both clubs play a good role in the Bundesliga over the long term – there is nothing better than THE derby in the capital! My duels earlier with 1860 Munich against Bayern were also the highlights. Union is my favorite in this duel because they are ahead of Hertha in the table, do a good job and have a home game in front of a sold out hut. With these spectators in the back, it will be difficult for Hertha. I grant the victory to both teams, but because Hertha needs the points more urgently, Blue-White should win this time. “

Hertha-Investor Lars Windhorst (44): “My heart’s favorite is of course Hertha BSC. I keep my fingers crossed for you for victory. And with my commitment to the club, I will do everything to ensure that Hertha will be the undisputed number 1 in the city in the future. “
